Slightly Messed Up (But It Works)

I don’t really want to write today, but I guess I will because I promised myself I’d commit to writing twice a week and posting. And I try to keep my promises to myself… or at least that’s what my head is telling me. So I’ll listen. This will be short though, because I barely have anything to say.

am excited about one thing and one thing only: it’s the start of gift-making season. Birthdays, weddings, babies—it’s all coming up, which means my hands are going to be busy for basically the rest of the year. I’ve got so many sewing, knitting, and crocheting projects planned.

I can’t wait to attempt colorwork socks. It honestly makes me want to buy clear boots just to show them off. My only problem is I have no idea what yarn to buy—I want something washable and comfy.

Last night I attempted to make a sliding mat for my KitchenAid mixer with my new sewing machine, and it took me three hours. I messed up so many times. Me and my seam ripper were besties, and I honestly could have cried. But it’s done, and it works great… just don’t turn it around. You’d never know it’s slightly messed up.

My best advice: “sew ugly.” Nothing has to be perfect—just do it anyway, and you’ll get better with time.
