Talking to Trees About My Career

I’ve applied to what feels like a million jobs—ninety-eight to be exact—and I’ve heard back from two for interviews. It seems as though the odds may not be in my favor. It would probably help if I actually knew what I wanted to do, but I only really have three requirements: location, decent pay, and the ability to further my career so I can get better pay in the future.

Let’s face it, this first job is very much a stepping stone, so it really doesn’t matter that much what it is. For me, it’s more about the location.

I want to go out West, and I’ve only applied to jobs that will get me there. Maybe it’s a long shot, but a girl can dream. Now, out of my what feels like a million jobs, I may or may not have been qualified. But then again, a girl can dream. I have definitely applied to jobs I have no business applying for, like being a director of a sector I’ve never even heard of. Call it a leap of faith, but lowkey, I would be scared if they even got back to me because my qualifications are in the negatives.

I honestly think I could do any job. Not in a cocky way, but I truly believe anyone has the ability to do anything (within reason, obviously—I’m not that delusional). I mean, the positions I’m looking at don’t change much day to day. It’s the same thing over and over again. I just need a company that’s willing to train me and take this dummy and turn me into an expert.

I don’t think school, or much of anything, can make you perfect for a job straight out. You can only really get better once you’re out in the field, so the field is where I’m trying to go. But it’s hard, nevertheless. I will get through it.

I’ll get a job, somewhere, somehow, and I’ll start this career thing all these adults are supposedly supposed to do.

YUCK!

Anyways, a little fun fact about me: on my daily walks, for the past two weeks or so, I’ve been talking to the damn trees. I scream to the trees and to the world to make my dreams come true—that I get a job and move out West.

I’m manifesting, and yes, it seems silly, but it makes me feel better, so I don’t care. I tell myself I’ll get a good-paying job, move somewhere close to the mountains out West, and live the dream I’ve had since childhood.

I believe, because I don’t have a choice not to.
